Living with Intention
To live with intention, you have to make conscious choices that honor your body and mind. Making the choice each day to be aware of how we feel, what our goals are, what we consume (whether with our mouths or eyes). Intention means to move our body in a way that makes it happy and full of energy, to strengthen our bodies to be the best version of ourselves. Here are 3 ways to practice intention:
Nutrition: being mindful of what, how, and why you eat. Choosing nutrient-dense foods: Prioritizing whole, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins that nourish your body. Listening to your body: Paying attention to hunger and fullness cues, eating when you’re hungry, and stopping when you’re satisfied. Being aware of foods impact: Recognizing how food affects your energy, mood, and overall health, and choosing foods that support your specific needs (e.g., managing blood sugar, improving digestion, or boosting immune health). Avoiding mindless eating: Minimizing distractions during meals (e.g. watching TV or scrolling on your phone) to help you connect with and fully enjoy your food
Health: being proactive in your approach to physical and mental well-being. Regular physical activity: Choosing exercise that you enjoy and that supports your goals, whether that’s strength, flexibility, or cardiovascular health. It’s about moving your body regularly for both physical and mental benefits. Rest and recovery: Prioritizing sleep and rest, recognizing the importance of relaxation and recovery for overall health, and allowing your body the time it needs to regenerate. Preventive care: Being proactive with your health by scheduling check-ups, staying on top of medical screenings, and addressing any health concerns promptly.
Wellness: taking care of your emotional, mental, and social health and creating a balanced and fulfilling life. Mental well-being: Practicing mindfulness, meditation, or journaling to reduce stress, manage anxiety, and cultivate a positive mindset. Emotional health: Understanding and managing your emotions, building healthy relationships, and seeking support when needed (therapy, talking to loved ones, or joining supportive communities). Self-care rituals: Regularly engaging in activities that recharge and restore you — whether that’s taking a walk in nature, enjoying a hobby, or setting boundaries to protect your energy.
By showing up with intention, you’ll recognize that you’re living with purpose and focus. You’ll know that the food you consume is honoring your body, your goals, and your spirit and that no matter your age, you can love your body and feel energized with its amazing place in this world.
