The Practice of Renewing
As I was thinking about the word “renew” so many things came to mind: renewing my driver’s license, a couple renewing their vows, skincare that promises the renewal of cells, and a client’s renewed hope after clear margins from a biopsy. We use this word in so many ways.
In our spiritual lives to make new again, often means returning to practices we have abandoned. When things are good in life, it is easy to drift away from intentionally connecting to something bigger than ourselves. And then when the rails of life fall off again, we feel disconnected and wonder what happened to our faith.
Take some time this Spring to sit in the sun with your eyes closed and deepen your breathing until you feel a wave of calm come over you. Stay there as long as you can. When your mind wanders, bring it back to your breath. Try not to fight or force, just gently notice and return. If we each do this for a few minutes every day, we create an anchoring practice available to us in any storm of life.
Think about when you feel the most peaceful, what are you doing or not doing? That is your unique recipe of finding peace. Renew those practices this Spring and you will notice life feeling a little lighter and hope becoming easier to access.
And if you would like a guide to help you find your unique recipe of being you, a team of Compassion Fix providers is here to create a customized plan for you. Learn more about Renew You. Spring is full of new beginnings for you.
