The Importance of Thriving

One of our greatest wishes is to see our children thrive—no matter their age. We hope they find success in school, build healthy friendships, grow in their activities and passions, and eventually step confidently into adulthood, relationships, and careers.

One of the most meaningful ways we can support their growth is by modeling the importance of community and showing them how connection shapes their lives.

For kids, community can be found in many places: a close group of friends, a club or team, church or youth groups, a part-time job, or a consistent volunteer role. These spaces help them build confidence, responsibility, and a sense of belonging.

Encouraging children to step out of their comfort zone and try new experiences helps them discover where they feel supported and valued.

As parents and caregivers, we also benefit from nurturing our own sense of community. In this full season of life, it can be hard to carve out time for ourselves, yet investing in our own relationships strengthens our wellbeing and models healthy connections for our children. As we look toward the holiday season and the start of a new year, consider one small step you might take to grow your community—reaching out to a friend, trying a new hobby, volunteering, or simply saying yes to an invitation. Even small actions can have a powerful ripple effect on both you and your children.
